Cookie Policy
What This Covers
This Cookie Policy explains how Sigma Terminal uses cookies, local storage, session storage, and similar browser technologies (together, "Cookies"). It supplements the Privacy Policy.
1. Essential Storage (Always On)
Sigma Terminal uses essential browser storage to operate the Service. These are strictly necessary and do not require consent under EU/UK ePrivacy rules or California law.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
sigma_token_v2 |
localStorage / sessionStorage | Authentication token — keeps you signed in | Until sign-out or token expiry |
sigma_theme |
localStorage | Remembers light/dark mode preference | Persistent until cleared |
sigma_cookie_consent |
localStorage | Records your cookie consent choice | Persistent until cleared |
| Session UI flags | sessionStorage | Remembers dismissed modals / active tabs within a browser tab | Until tab is closed |
2. Analytics Cookies (Consent Required)
If you choose "Accept analytics" on the consent banner, we load Microsoft Clarity, a behavioural analytics service provided by Microsoft Corporation (One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052, USA). Clarity captures heatmaps and session recordings that help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve the product. No data from Clarity is used for advertising targeting.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_clck |
Microsoft (clarity.ms) | Assigns a random ID to identify unique visitors across sessions | 1 year |
_clsk |
Microsoft (clarity.ms) | Groups page views that belong to the same session | 1 day |
Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft may use aggregated Clarity telemetry to improve its own services.
3. No Advertising or Tracking Networks
We do not use advertising pixels, third-party tracking networks, fingerprinting technologies, or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
4. Your Choices
A consent banner appears on your first visit. You can choose:
- Accept analytics — loads Microsoft Clarity in addition to essential storage.
- Essential only — only essential storage is used; Clarity is not loaded.
To change your choice after the fact, clear the sigma_cookie_consent key from your browser's localStorage (DevTools → Application → Local Storage) and reload the page. The consent banner will reappear.
You can also block the clarity.ms domain in your browser or ad blocker to prevent Clarity from loading regardless of consent.
Blocking essential storage may prevent login, billing, preferences, alerts, or other Service features from working.
5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal or Global Privacy Control header. We do not automatically treat these as an opt-out of Clarity analytics because there is no binding industry standard for responding to those signals for our use case. However, you can always choose "Essential only" in the banner to explicitly opt out.
6. Third-Party Scripts
The DMCA badge in the footer loads a JavaScript file from images.dmca.com for badge validation. This is a purely functional script and does not set cookies or track visitors.
7. Updates
We will update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove cookie technologies, or when legal requirements change. Material changes will be accompanied by an updated "Last updated" date above. If we add new consent-required technologies, we will present a fresh consent prompt.
