Risk Disclosure
Trading and investing involve substantial risk. You can lose money, including your entire investment.
Market Risk
Prices can move sharply due to earnings, news, interest-rate changes, liquidity, macro events, analyst changes, regulation, market structure, or other factors. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Trading Risk
Short-term trading, margin, leverage, options, short selling, concentrated positions, low-float securities, illiquid securities, and after-hours trading can magnify losses. Stop losses, alerts, and risk models may not execute or protect you during gaps, halts, outages, or extreme volatility.
High-Risk Products
Certain products carry elevated risk and may not be suitable for all investors:
- Options. Options can expire worthless, and short options can produce losses many times the premium received.
- Leveraged and inverse ETFs. These products use derivatives and are designed for short holding periods. Returns over longer periods can differ materially from the underlying index due to compounding.
- Crypto assets. Crypto markets are largely unregulated in many jurisdictions and can experience extreme volatility, custody loss, exchange failure, and total loss of value. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has stated that trading of cryptocurrencies and digital payment tokens is highly risky and not suitable for the general public. Singapore retail investors should review MAS guidance before participating, and Sigma Terminal does not promote, solicit, or market digital-payment-token services to Singapore retail customers.
- Penny stocks and microcaps. Low liquidity, wide spreads, and price manipulation risk are common.
- Short selling. Potential losses are theoretically unlimited.
Margin and Forced Liquidation
If you use a margin account with your broker, adverse price moves may trigger margin calls or forced liquidation of positions at unfavorable prices. Sigma Terminal does not monitor your broker margin balances; you are responsible for managing margin and collateral with your broker.
Pattern Day Trader Rule
In the United States, FINRA Rule 4210 may classify accounts that execute four or more day trades within five business days as Pattern Day Trader accounts, subject to a $25,000 minimum equity requirement and other restrictions. Verify these rules with your broker.
Model and Forecast Risk
Forecasts, targets, confidence scores, scenario analysis, multi-horizon predictions, and prediction tracking are estimates based on available inputs. They can be wrong, incomplete, stale, or misinterpreted. AI-generated reasoning may appear confident but be factually wrong.
Data Risk
Market data, fundamentals, news, earnings data, analyst estimates, insider transactions, and sentiment may be delayed, inaccurate, unavailable, rate-limited, or corrected after publication. Verify key facts with primary or broker-grade sources before acting. See the Data Provider Disclaimer.
Technology Risk
The Service may be interrupted by internet failures, hosting issues, AI provider outages, payment-processor issues, browser bugs, security incidents, third-party provider downtime, or scheduled maintenance. Alerts and notifications may be delayed or missed.
Regulatory and Tax Risk
Securities laws, exchange rules, broker policies, and tax treatment vary by jurisdiction and change over time. The Service does not provide tax or legal advice. Consult qualified professionals.
Regulatory Status
Sigma Terminal is not registered, licensed, or authorised by any financial regulator, including the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), FINRA, the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), or equivalent regulators in other jurisdictions. Outputs from the Service are general research material and not investment advice. See the Financial Disclaimer for jurisdiction-specific details.
